Our Approach

Make the decision to apply with clarity.

A promising opportunity is only the beginning. LCF looks at fit, readiness, requirements, and next actions before recommending that you invest time in an application.

The LCF Method

Find → Assess → Prepare → Pursue & Manage

Each phase answers a different question, so you can move forward deliberately rather than chasing every open opportunity.

  1. 01

    Find

Search public and private sources for opportunities aligned with the organization, project, location, and funding need.

    Explore funding research
  2. 02

    Assess

Test eligibility, readiness, restrictions, timing, and competitiveness before committing resources to an application.

    See the assessment criteria
  3. 03

    Prepare

Organize the narrative, budget, evidence, registrations, approvals, and attachments the opportunity requires.

    Explore application support
  4. 04

    Pursue & Manage

Submit with clarity, then manage an award according to its terms, reporting schedule, and compliance requirements.

How We Evaluate

Four questions guide every recommendation.

01

Opportunity fit

We compare the funder's purpose with your legal applicant type, mission, proposed work, location, population served, funding amount, and timeline. We also look for exclusions, match requirements, allowable costs, and priorities that could strengthen or weaken alignment.

The result

You understand why an opportunity is—or is not—a practical match.

02

Organizational readiness

We review the people, approvals, registrations, financial information, partnerships, program details, and supporting records needed to apply and carry out the work. Readiness is considered in proportion to the size and complexity of the opportunity.

The result

You see what is ready now and what needs attention before applying.

03

Requirements and risk

We read the complete funding notice and related guidance—not only the summary. That includes evaluation criteria, required forms, deadlines, budget rules, reporting duties, procurement standards, recordkeeping, and any commitments that continue after an award.

The result

You can make an informed decision with the full requirements in view.

04

Recommended next actions

We translate the review into a practical sequence: pursue now, strengthen the project first, complete a registration, gather evidence, identify a partner, revise the budget, or monitor for a better opportunity. When the fit is strong, we define the application work and decision points.

The result

You leave with a clear next step—not simply a list of possibilities.

What To Prepare

Start with what you know.

You do not need a complete application package before the first conversation. The most useful starting information is practical and familiar.

  • Legal name and applicant status
  • Mission, services, or business activity
  • The project or need to be funded
  • Location and population served
  • Estimated budget and timing
  • Existing registrations, partners, and documents

Your Next Step

Begin with a fit and readiness conversation.

Tell us what you want to fund and where you are in the process. We’ll identify the information needed to assess the path forward.
